You know I told you I was thinking of starting my own business?

Yes, you mentioned it lots recently.

Well I decided it was worth having a go and I’ve given myself 6 months to see how I get on and if it gives me an extra £200/mth , then I’ll be happy.

Sounds like a plan, £200 /mth you say, interesting.

Well anyway, the reason I’ve phoned you is I need some help with a few things I’m trying to learn. I’m following a plan for new starters  but it’s difficult practicing things to say to myself. Could you pop round for an hour to help me, or I can get round to yours if you prefer?  I’ll buy you a drink after for helping!

Hi Nick, all good? [yeah mate, relaxing after work, etc....]

It’s a quick call but you know how we are all a bit worried about the probable job cuts coming up at work, well I have been looking at starting up my own business and having a backup plan.  Wondered if you might be interested in having a chat about this kind of thing?

Oddly yes, I was wondering what might happen but hadn’t really thought about starting my own business but I guess that is an option.  Isn’t that kind of thing risky and very expensive?

Well most of the time yes but I have found that there are some things you can do that aren’t, so its an option worth exploring. Look I can’t chat for long now but if you are interested, lets get together, pop round here or I’ll come to yours and I will share what I’ve found out, okay?

Recently I have been looking into starting my own business and I have settled on something that seems to be suitable for me.  I really wanted to pick your brains and ask you for your expert opinion from your business experience, a bit like a Dragon from the Den!

Gosh, unexpected but thank you for asking me and valuing my opinion.  Yes of course, I would love to help you in any way I can with checking out what you are going to do.  It's a good idea and something I do myself with others I trust.  Tell you what, if you are free Monday evening, pop round to mine at 7:30pm and we can discuss it here without the noise of a pub.
