Conversation skills

Speaking with your family, friends or strangers, about life, business, hobbies, it doesn't matter which, where or when, they all require you to master the art of conversation.  Understand the differences between social chit chat and business conversations.  Learn to be interested and not interesting.  Learn to listen more than you speak, etc.

This section is to provide you with some guidelines and examples of these subtleties and with practice, they will become automatic.  It's highly recommended that you also obtain some books or audios on this topic and take it further.  Maybe even book onto a good course.

To maximise conversational skills, you absolutely must role play practice.  Reading this is not enough, so buddy up with a friend, fellow business partner and get stuck in!

As well as the examples further below, use the the weekly Home/Team meetings and have fun improving together and sharing the role of hosting the sessions. Have fun, lots of fun doing these!  On the Home Meetings page there are lots of lessons and ideas to practice.

Skill 1 - Interested, not interesting!

During your first week of the business, speak to as many people as you can, friends, family, strangers but you are not allowed to mention your business opportunity.  Easy?  Give it a try!

Skill 2 - Starting a conversation with a stranger

Skill 3 - Think about How the other person will resond to what you are saying

This means think about how you would respond if you were in their shoes.

Skill 4 - When you want to find if they might be interested in a business opportunity

This is where the best tool to use is Alan Pease "Questions are the Answers".

This is covered on Getting Started and the more advanced classroom events.
